October 2-Day Arts Market + Moonlight Movies in Palmer Park!
by Morgan Sasser
We’re extremely excited to share that for the first time in Arts Market history we’ll be setting up in Palmer Park for a special two-day October show! Join us Saturday, October 25 and Sunday, October 26 from 10 am – 4 pm to shop local from all your favorite Gulf South artists.
Make sure not to miss our FREE live performances under the music tent. Many thanks to the Jazz & Heritage Foundation for their 2014 Community Partnership Grant. It’s due to their generous support that we can provide Arts Market patrons with fantastic musical acts, completely free! Here’s our performance schedule:
Saturday, October 25:
Dick Deluxe & Rod Hodges | 1 – 2 pm
Dick Deluxe a.k.a Richard Enger – known as one of New Orleans’ favorite troubadours – will be pairing up with Rod Hodges of The Iguanas to bring you some sweet honky-tonk rock ‘n’ roll.
Thomas Pol Quartet | 2:30 – 3:30 pm
Thomas Pol – native to Holland and new to New Orleans – is an upright bassist and emerging jazz musician. Thomas and his fellow jazz cats will be making their Arts Market debut this Saturday under the music tent! Thomas can be found once a week at Bacchanal Wine serenading their backyard patrons.
Sunday, October 26:
Bone | 1 – 2 pm & 2:30-3:30 pm
Bone is a unique country rock ensemble that’s comprised of local musicians and your very own Arts Market artists. Once a year these artists step out of their art booths and into the music tent at Palmer Park to bring guests two hours of rock-a-billy fun.
Not only are we bringing you a special two-day Arts Market, we’re also partnering with the New Orleans Film Society to bring the first ever Moonlight Movie screening to Palmer Park! Come on out and enjoy a *FREE* screening of the 80s classic, Ghostbusters!
Don’t forget to mark your calendars for our remaining 2014 arts markets!
