Megan Jewel is a New Orleans-based artist creating whimsical cut-paper illustrations, thoughtful handmade cards, and unique custom invitations.
Inspired by traditional folk art and storytelling, the creation of her artwork has become a journey of whimsical characters and places that come to life from tiny pieces of cut paper. Each handmade card is typed out on one of her old Royal typewriters and then finished by hand with pieces of vibrant Lokta paper, vintage papers, or even maps. Her collection of cut-paper illustrations are meant to spark happiness wherever they may go.
In addition to her paper illustrations and cards, she also creates custom wedding and party invitations with an emphasis on original artwork. She believes in creating exquisite invitations that are tailored to your once in a lifetime event.
A native of Buffalo, New York, she received a B.S. from Ithaca College in Cinema & Photography, which has continued to influence her desire to tell stories through her artwork. When she’s not working in the studio she enjoys outdoor photography, cooking, riding her bike, and trying to play the banjo.
