In the year 2000, A CATALPA TREE, an installation by Robert C. Tannen was exhibited at the Jonathan Ferrara Gallery in a show titled Gizmos, Gadgets, and a Catalpa Tree.
The current exhibit at Home Space is a further development of the concept which began with the fertilization, surgery, treatment and care of one of the oldest Catalpa trees in New Orleans which has lived at 2326 Esplanade Avenue for more than a hundred years. The Home Space installation was conceived in part after installing a fifteen piece exhibit of numbered sandstone boulders in the forest and along the trails surrounding the new Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in Bentonville, Arkansas.
And, in the Blue Room, Plaster of Paris sculptures by Noel.
