LeMieux Galleries is pleased to announce a new exhibition of ceramic sculptures by artist John Donovan. The exhibition will open with an artist’s reception on “Whitney’s White Linen Night”, Saturday, August 4, 2012 from 6-9 p.m.. The show will remain on view until September 29, 2012.
The human propensity toward violence remains the focal point of John Donovan’s work. He clings to more playful perspective on such troubling topics often vicariously through his own children. Using clay, a medium he finds to be “light-hearted”, he expresses his sardonic attitudes towards war and brutality. As always, Donovan’s work is ultimately for the viewer to enjoy, and hopefully might serve to ignite a dialog within.
John Donovan received his BFA from Loyola University in New Orleans and his MFA from Stephen Austin State University in Texas. He currently resides in Nashville, TN where he is an associate professor in the Art Department at Middle Tennessee State University
