About WILD STYLE
Regarded as the first hip hop motion picture, this definitive docudrama features seminal MCs, DJs, grafitti artists, and b-boys such as Fab Five Freddy, Lee Quinones, Lady Pink, the Rock Steady Crew, The Cold Crush Brothers, Grandmaster Flash, and many more. The film, despite its low budget, has earned legendary status since its theatrical release in 1983. Called “the visual bible of hip hop” by contemporary rapper Nas, ‘Wild Style’ was also voted as one of the top ten rock and roll films of all time by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. (82 minutes, 1983)
This film screening is presented as part of “MUSICALLY SPEAKING,” a new series of music-themed movies and documentaries on selected Mondays, curated and hosted by DJ Soul Sister. Co-presented with Press Street, Charitable Film Network & WWOZ. For the screening schedule and more information visit http://www.press-street.com/film or contact .
