Sarah Dearie
Sarah Dearie is a native of New Orleans, La. A graduate of New Orleans Center for the Creative Arts, she went on to further her arts education at Kansas City Art Institute where she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Sculpture in 2000. In 1999 she traveled to Salvador, Bahia, Brazil which she immediately adopted as her second home. Salvador and it’s African culture became a prominent inspiration in her work.
In 2005, after Hurricane Katrina, Sarah moved with her husband and two children to Salvador, where they founded Fogo Das Aguas, a center for art and culture. They returned to New Orleans in 2007. Sarah taught Visual Arts to New Orleans school children for two years and has now returned to her career as a Visual Artist.
