Forrest Bacigalupi

Forrest Bacigalupi is a New Orleans artist whose artwork reflects the fantasia of day to day life. It speaks of a town steeped in the overbearing heat of racial tensions borne of poverty and wealth, manifested in their greatest extremes.

His artwork speaks to the all-consuming color and passion that defines “CARNIVAL,” the festival whose name literally translates to “swallowing flesh.” It speaks to the sultry and sensual electricity created by people, swept up in the visceral immediately of a mass celebration which reaches critical mass right before our eyes.

He views his art as a vehicle of transformation and transportation. Whosoever the audience, art can catapult one into different states of consciousness by changing, completely, the atmosphere of whatever space in which it’s displayed.
