Krewe of King Arthur

The legendary king of the Britons lends his name to this gallant krewe, formed in 1977 by the youngest Carnival captain in the history of the celebrations. Originally a Westbank morning parade, King Arthur moved onto the traditional uptown route in 2001. The Krewe of King Arthur parades down beautiful St. Charles Avenue on the historic Uptown New Orleans route before turning onto Canal Street in front of tens of thousands of spectators of all ages. Dozens of marching units (floats, bands, etc.) make up the King Arthur procession.

The Krewe of King Arthur has earned a great deal of respect for consistently presenting a fine pageant every season. The krewe also holds their annual Bal Masque (masked ball) where King Arthur and Queen Guenevere are presented to fellow krewe members as well as the carnival community. Krewe members are active in local civic and charitable organizations.
