Gold Mine Saloon
Gold Mine Saloon hosts the 17 Poets! Reading Series every Thursday night starting at 8:00 PM. National and local poets have performed with this series since 2003.
The poetry series has been featured on The PBS Newshour with Jim Lehrer, PennSound Audio Recordings, and NPR. Nationally recognized poets such as Alice Notley, Jerome Rothenberg, Bill Berkson, Ann Waldman, Bernadette Mayer, John Sinclair, and Pierre Joris have been featured at the series.
Each feature is followed by an open mic where poets, performers, storytellers, and musicians are welcome to perform. The series has hosted multimedia performances including Puppet Theater, Butoh Performances, and Video/ Poetry Installments. The series has hosted several Festivals for the Imagination, three evenings of art, poetry, and music to celebrate poetry and art in New Orleans.
