The Historic New Orleans Collection has shown a deep commitment to the arts of Louisiana and the community in their efforts to capture, preserve and rebuild the city. Their focus on New Orleans and its unparalleled history has brought about extraordinary acheivement, especially in developing the cultural economy. The organization has sustained a remarkable quality of work throughout their efforts to rebuild after Katrina. Their rebuilding effort include hosting the Restoration Road Show, exhibiting the historic “Common Routes: St. Domingue”, The Katrina Anniversary Show “City of Hope” and the culinary show “What’s Cooking New Orleans?” The Historic New Orleans Collection is helping to enchant a whole new genreation of New Orleanians through their education initiatives such as partnerships with schools, camps and Radio Disney. The Historic New Orleans Collection knows that families and their traditons are an important part of New Orleans and essential to our growth and future.
The Arts Council of New Orleans each year celebrates the Community Arts Awards. Since 1977, the Community Arts Awards have recognized living individuals, organizations and corporations which have made outstanding contributions to the arts in New Orleans. Recipients are continue selected for their artistic excellence, sustained contributions, unique achievements, perseverance, and a deep commitment to the arts and local community.
