  • Grantmaking – Administering state and city support for arts & cultural initiatives 
  • Arts Market – A monthly series of fine art and craft markets  
  • Salon – A unique artist residency program in Canal Place  
  • Unframed –Large-scale mural program in downtown New Orleans   

Content Creator Job Description 

Arts New Orleans seeks to hire a content creator or agency to help us create original and engaging content for distribution across our organization’s communication channels. Under the leadership of the Creative Director and Marketing Manager this position will support the amplification of Arts New Orleans’ communication and marketing efforts.  

This role requires the ability to identify, create, manage, and deliver key visual and written communication materials to share Arts New Orleans’ work and mission with target stakeholders. This includes researching and turning content into videos, images, infographics, news posts, and text captions and disseminating them across Arts New Orleans’ communication channels. 

The position will work across a range of projects in the organization and therefore effective working relationships will need to be formed with various internal teams, external stakeholders and third-party partners.  

The ideal candidate will be a creative, driven, and detail-orientated individual or agency who is passionate about digital marketing and producing tangible results.  

We are seeking a self-starter with the ability to understand, craft, and execute a comprehensive communications strategy. This position will play a key role in creating and delivering engaging, inspiring, and entertaining content across our range of communication channels, including:

  • Twitter

These efforts will work within established Arts New Orleans brand and style components to amplify programmatic efforts and mission-centered initiatives. This role requires exceptional organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize and structure communication timelines and messaging.  

Start Date: May 15, 2023  

Ideal Qualifications  

  • Bachelor’s Degree (preferably in Marketing/Communications, Creative Media, Video Production, or Graphic Design) 
  • 3+ years of experience in a comparable digital marketing role 
  • Understanding of marketing and communication strategies and tactics 
  • Digital storytelling skills 
  • Excellent copywriting capabilities  
  • Refined visual and design aesthetic  
  • Graphic design understanding and execution 
  • Deep knowledge of social media trends and engagement strategy  
  • Ability to work collaboratively and efficiently across internal teams  
  • Energy, enthusiasm and proven experience in distilling brand messaging into digital content 
  • Strong creative skills and a keen eye for detail 

Additionally, the candidate should be skilled in or have foundational knowledge of one or more of the following areas, with the understanding that all components listed below will be part of the position requirements:  

  • Demonstrated expertise in creative tools like Adobe Creative Suite with a focus on Photoshop, Illustrator and/or InDesign  
  • Video filming and production  
  • Photography and photo editing  

Team  

The Content Creator will work closely with the Creative Director, Marketing Manager, and Board of Directors marketing committee to execute Arts New Orleans’ marketing objectives. The position will connect with all Arts New Orleans programs and various external stakeholders sitting in on programmatic meetings as needed to distill activities and projects into photo, video and written content to disseminate across social media, website, and e-mail newsletters.  

Responsibilities 

  • Weekly check ins with program leads  
  • Attending Arts New Orleans events for photo/video documentation 
  • Create various forms of narrative and photo/video content for online communication 
  • Prepare well-structured content drafts for digital content platforms  
  • Edit, proofread, and fact check all content before publication  
  • Publish posts according to an established communication calendar 
  • Interview staff, artists, and industry professionals for content creation  
  • Conduct keyword research and use SEO guidelines to optimize content  
  • Promote content on social networks and monitor engagement (comments & shares)  
  • Identify community interests and adapt content for maximum engagement 
  • Implement social media strategies for maximum engagement  
  • Measure traffic across website and social media channels, report growth and progress 
  • Design print and digital graphics such as event flyers, postcards, etc.  
  • Social Media content management  
  • Amplify Arts New Orleans brand style components across all program marketing and communication 
  • Develop creative ideas, suggest new innovative ways of delivering digital content and keep up-to-date with the latest digital marketing trends.  
  • Create awareness and interest within our audiences and stakeholder groups, driving traffic to engage with digital content.  

Compensation  

This is a part-time, contract position with Arts New Orleans that requires a flexible schedule, including some weekday evenings and Saturdays. The contract is $20,000 for one year for an anticipated average time commitment of 12 hours per week.  Arts New Orleans contractors do not receive health insurance or other benefits.
