Harpo Foundation: Grants For Visual Artists

Deadline to Apply: April 29, 2024

Established in 2006, the Harpo Foundation aims to support emerging and under-recognized visual artists.

The foundation invites applications for its Grants for Visual Artists program, which provides direct support to under-recognized artists 21 years or older. Grants of up to $10,000 will be awarded to artists based on the quality of the artists’ work, the potential to expand aesthetic inquiry, and the ability to fulfill the foundation’s priority to provide support to visual artists who are under-recognized by the field.

In addition, the foundation invites applications for the Impact Award for Native American Art, which provides a $25,000 fellowship to amplify the contributions of under-recognized Native American contemporary visual artists. To be considered for the award, artists must submit a Grants for Visual Artists application to join the pool, and then follow the application’s prompts to register their eligibility and submit additional information. To be eligible, applicants must be an enrolled member or citizen of a state or federally recognized American Indian tribe, an Alaskan Native corporation, or of Native Hawaiian ancestry.

Applicants must be a United States citizen and a self-defined under-recognized visual artist aged 21 years or older.
