Prize Foundation: Louisiana Film Prize

Deadline to Apply: July 11, 2023

The Louisiana Film Prize is a short film competition and festival that has been stoking the fire of indie film in the South since 2012. Each year, new writers, producers, and filmmakers come to Shreveport, Louisiana, to compete for $50,000 cash. Yes, you read that right – $50,000, the world’s largest cash prize for film. Over the last decade, the Prize Foundation has built a contest and festival experience that activates and elevates creatives in a way that sparks professional nourishment and a bona fide career path for independent filmmakers.

Our rules are simple: Shoot a short in Louisiana. Win $50,000 cash. (It’s really that simple.)

Film Prize is a short film competition, open to independent filmmakers of any nationality who register and shoot a short film in Louisiana during the approved shooting window (November 1, 2022 – July 11, 2023). Works will be considered for competition only if they have a total running time of no less than 5 minutes and no more than 15 minutes including all titles and credits. Credits may be no longer than 30 seconds. The Selection Committee reserves the right to determine the eligibility of any project. Only live-action, narrative films are eligible (all genres). Documentary and animation will not be accepted.
