Young Artist Movement (YAM)

Young creatives imagining and inspiring positive change

YAM primarily serves young people of color, ages 14-22, who demonstrate creative passion.  Youth work closely with professional artist mentors who provide insight into the creative process, teach techniques, and ensure artistic excellence.  Our young artists have created inspiring and thought-provoking murals, sculptures, digital projections, and more.  In every project, our goal is to:

  • Cultivate young people’s sense of belonging and connection to their community as they transform public spaces through beautiful art and express their voices in a positive way.
  • Promote socio-emotional wellbeing through a caring and creative environment.
  • Teach youth tangible professional and entrepreneurial skills that expand their future job and educational prospects

“Being a part of YAM, I’ve learned so much. Being around creative people and working together as a team to complete a task is a process that I love.  I’m the type of person that loves learning new things and through YAM I was able to meet so many creative people that I’ll never forget and whose creative spirit I admire.”

“Young Artist Movement has been an incredible journey that gave opportunities that I would have never thought I would ever have while also allowing me to learn more about myself and what I want to do in the future. I hope to be able to create more magic with them soon!”
