The Activating the Oretha Castle Haley Cultural Corridor Project is looking for creative thinkers, organized planners, culture bearers and community leaders and stakeholders with connections to Central City to help enliven the Oretha Castle Haley Corridor.

Neighborhood Grants – APPLY HERE

Are you a local resident, artist, business owner, community leader, or someone passionate about Central City? Neighborhood Grants provides funding for small-scale grassroots projects that promote and support local businesses, celebrate local culture and history, and enhance community resources. Grants are available in three tiers – $500, $1,000, and $2,500. Examples of project ideas can include outdoor movie screenings, street performances, art installations, community fridges, and much more. This is a chance to bring your ideas to life and contribute to our vibrant community.
Event Committee – APPLY HERE
Application Deadline: November 17
We’re looking for 6-8 dedicated individuals to join the Event Committee responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing a dynamic community-focused event in March 2024. This event aims to celebrate the Oretha Castle Haley Cultural Corridor, highlight the Neighborhood Grant projects, provide feedback for public art concepts, and share the community vision. Honorariums are provided to selected committee members.
Public Art Selection Committee – APPLY HERE

If you’re passionate about art and would like to help select the permanent public artwork along the Oretha Castle Haley Cultural Corridor, the Public Art Selection Committee is for you! This committee seeks 2-3 members to evaluate artist qualifications and proposals, ensuring they align with our community’s goals, values, and themes. Honorariums are provided to selected committee members.

Application Help Sessions
Three optional help sessions are available to provide information on all Community Driven Initiatives (Neighborhood Grants, Event Committee, Public Art Selection Committee), application support, resources, project brainstorming, ideation and budgeting.
- Help Session #3: November 15, 10:30-12:00 – Civic Studio, 1626 S. Rampart Street. This optional help session will provide application support for the Neighborhood Grants, Events Committee, resources, project brainstorming, ideation, and budgeting. Hard-copy applications and computer access will be available.
