After several incredible years of creative activation, the SALON program at Canal Place is coming to a close. Arts New Orleans is deeply grateful to the visionary artists who brought energy, curiosity, and bold imagination to this unique space. From exhibitions and performances to workshops and open studios, each residency transformed a simple storefront into a vibrant hub of artistic exchange and community.
Since opening in 2019, SALON has hosted 23 resident artists who used their time and talents to engage the public and create dynamic, multidisciplinary work. Born from a partnership between Arts New Orleans and Canal Place, the program offered free studio and exhibition space to support artists at a time when affordable creative workspaces have grown scarce. True to its name—a nod to the salons of history—this residency became a place for experimentation, dialogue, and connection, pushing boundaries and inviting the public to engage with art in fresh, unexpected ways.
We celebrate every artist who made SALON what it was: a sanctuary for making, sharing, and growing. Thank you for trusting this space with your visions and for enriching our community through your work.
With gratitude,
Arts New Orleans & Canal Place
